MWA

When we were on a lovely weekend in Paris years ago, my dear friend Sarah sent me a message which ended with MWA.

The sound of a big kiss.

I liked the look and sound of it so much that I have been using it myself ever since.

Now look at what you can see all through the streets of Fremantle - it brought a huge smile to my face every time I spotted one!

Today a month ago we helped Mart's parents move apartments, had a refreshing swim in the pool downstairs, witnessed yet another fantastic sunset and had Mart's lovely saffron risotto.

I really wouldn't mind jumping back in time for a little bit!

Little Creatures and fish and chips

Fremantle is absolutely charming. It's small enough to be cosy, warm and friendly, yet big enough to get great food and a few amazing book shops and boutiques.

Photos taken at:

(1) the Moores building, a great cafe / art gallery space right across from where Mart's dad works. We tried their savoury cupcackes with corn and courgette which made a delightful breakfast.

(2 - 4) Little Creatures, the place to be in Fremantle - an amazingly cool brewery where you can try the beers and ciders made on the spot and have great food. The place is very trendy yet simple - we loved it!

(5 - 8) Fremantle Fishing Harbour, where we had delicious fish and chips on the jetty at Cicerellos while enjoying the amazing weather and beautiful skies.

Fremantle on a hot Sunday

So, I have decided that I would keep the Australian dream going for a bit more than a few days. For the next 30 days or so I will post something about each day of our trip.

E
xactly a month ago, we were spending our first day in Fremantle, in Western Australia.
We were greeted by stinking hot weather (it was 42 degrees centigrade when we were at the markets in the city center!) but it didn't keep us from taking a walk by the ocean right in front of where Mart's parents live.
Perfect way to fight jet lag!

Back in NL

I'm back in winter after a wonderful month down under... it was really sad to leave the sun, the heat, the holidays, but most of all, Mart's friends and family... it will be a while until I get to see them again, and I will miss them dearly.

I wasn't able to post much while we were away and so I will do so from here... it should be a good way to keep the holiday feeling going for a few more days!

This is probably the first photo of our trip, while we were on our way to the airport in Bruxelles.

I was back in this train today - the trip turned out pretty chaotic because of yesterday's big accident. But I got home safe and sound, and that's all that counts!

I'll be back tomorrow with more sunny and colourful photos... now it's time to go to bed!

Rainy Sydney

It has been very wet on this side of Australia... We've caught up with all the rain we had 'missed' while on the sunny West coast!

But they forecast slightly better weather for the rest of the week. We are going back to the Blue Mountains, and will most certainly see the three little lambs who sometimes come to eat the grass in Mart's parents' place.

Western Australia

It takes too much time to post lots of photos... so here is just a quick look into Western Australia, while waiting for more!

This was taken in Fremantle, just next to Mart's parents' apartment. The weather has been so wonderful!

We are in Sydney now. Yey!

Few days away

We are leaving for Margaret River for a few days... I have so many photos I would like to show you but (until a few minutes ago) no Internet to do so!
No time to do it now, but I will as soon as we get back!

Everything is still amazingly good out here; we love it!
