Australian memories

Before fully closing the Australian holiday chapter, I just wanted to show you the beautiful book I kept all our Australian memories in. The front was printed by Claire and Dave (it was a Christmas present two years ago) and it was just the perfect little book to take everywhere with us and keep all our memories in!

Last moments in Australia

I got lots of sun for my last moments in Australia!

Mart and I went to the beach one more time in the morning (to Manly, where the waves were amazing) and then it was time to drive to the airport and say goodbye...

Valentine's day

A month ago it was Valentine's day and one of my last days in Sydney...
Mart's parents came with us to Balmain for a lovely afternoon of delicious food and great shopping.
Afterwards we all met for one last family dinner with everyone together at a fantastic Colombian restaurant. The food was amazing and the atmosphere so warm and lovely... it was truly wonderful!

Busy rainy day

A month ago it was Dominic's naming ceremony. The weather was anything but sunny but it kept from raining too much while we were all gathered in a park on a pretty Sydney hill.

Afterwards we drove through the Sydney Harbour Bridge (I get excited every single time!!) to get to Paddington markets and see some wonderful boutiques on Oxford St, where we found lots of little treasures.

Great window display in a shop called Diamond Dogs (?) on Oxford St. and which I cannot seem to find online...

In the afternoon we went to Tamarama Beach, where we walked along the beautiful rocks and watched bodysurfers and surfers catch waves.

And in the evening we went to Bronwyn's birthday party. Wonderful night with lots of Mart's friends. And source of the song of the day.

The Gap and Chinatown

The Gap is the entrance to Sydney harbour. It's really a beautiful place, with amazing views in all directions. We went there with Al, before going for a well deserved swim in Nielsen Park, one of the few 'netted' beaches of the city. The whole beach is protected from any unwanted visitors (i.e. sharks) by a big net that runs all around. It was so good to get in the water as it was one of the warmest days since we had arrived in Sydney and the climb to the top of the Gap had us sweating more than it should have had!

In the evening we met Mike and Sandy with whom we had delicious Vietnamese food in Chinatown and then went for a crazy photo session in some very advanced Japanese photo booth - heaps of fun!

As you can see in the video above (which I took with my phone, which explains the very poor quality), we were not yet done with rain in Sydney. This was actually the most we saw during our whole trip - pretty torrential and tropical if you ask me!
Oh, and the song of the day is this one. Alex had just bought the CD and we listened to it really loud in the car... good memories!

Happy birthday Fabien!

Today is my little brother Fabien's birthday. I sent him some of these biscuits that I had made last week... and because they were so yummy, I made some again this weekend!

Train down the mountain

We came back down from the mountains with the train for the first time - it was a lovely ride through beautiful scenery!
