Back home

Back in Switzerland for a few days. The weather is perfect, we are going to see lots of friends and family... I'm super happy!

Took a few photos of Dad's wooden works while everyone was still asleep this morning.

Happy birthday Matilda!

Happy birthday little Matilda!
Two years already... it goes so fast!

Sorry Teresa, I know this is not your favourite Matilda song, but I can't help it: here is the song of the day!
Whenever I hear this song I remember the little show that Andrew, my Australian host brother, and his classmates had prepared for their Japanese trip years and years ago...

Princess garland

This garland is ready to start a big trip - it will go and live on the other side of the planet, in a princess bedroom...

Why didn't I think of that?

How cute is this bedside table spotted here?

I'm always amazed by such good ideas... why didn't I think of using a roof as a bookmark myself...?

:-)

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Yipeeeee!

Absolutely no one expected this, but... Switzerland just won against Spain!
Seems like I was right to pimp my broach with a little Swiss flag today...! ;-)

Beat Zoderer

Photo sources: left right

I wish I could go to Basel this weekend, to see this fantastic fair and visit this wonderful gallery. And most specifically, I'd want to stare at the colours and structures of the artworks of Beat Zoderer. I somehow always get a happy and beautiful feeling when I'm facing one of his chef-d'oeuvres...

Go Socceroos!

We've finally hung the old school Australian mining resources map we bought in an antiques market in Amsterdam this spring. Just on time for Australia's first game in the World Cup tonight!

As you can see we are ready - the colours are up and the tatoos about to be applied. Go socceroos!

Kieran, we'll be especially thinking of you - we know you'll be watching the game even if it's going to be the middle of the night in Hong Kong!

Oh, let's not forget the song of the day - a wonderful version from 1986!

Landing in Maastricht

I was going outside to take a photo of the pretty pattern that the drying rain makes on our neighbour's balcony...

When one of the few planes that land in Maastricht airport everyday passed right above my head!

I wouldn't really have noticed it usually, but this one is the one that's bringing Mart back home from his congress in Barcelona! Yippee!

Little beetle and lime and ginger melon jam

I finally finished the lime and ginger melon jam I had started a few days ago.
Can't wait to taste it for breakfast on Sunday morning!

The little beetle is the necklace I was wearing today.

Fashionclash

Here are my favourite outfits from Sunday's fashionclash event. Now, the pictures below are definitely not representative of what we saw during the whole day. There were frills, there were scary masks, crazy fabrics and incredible constructions and colours. But somehow these interesting, challenging and most probably very fashion-forward outfits didn't make into my list of favourites... I guess I'm a bit too conservative... or just too practical. I think I liked the ones you will see below because I could see myself wearing them in real life... (and also because some of the models were hot! hehehe...).

All photos come from the fashionclash website, and were taken during shows 4 and 5 by Team Peter Stigter.

My little sheep

Meet the little ceramic sheep I bought on Sunday at the wonderful Fashionclash event in Maastricht. It was made by Noemi Peters from nope design (no website available unfortunately).

Isn't he just adorable? He looks exactly like the real playmobil ones that my brothers and I used to play with... and it totally reminds me of my childhood!

Joanna took great photos of the venue on Sunday - I can't wait to see her pictures of the actual fashion shows.

Ok, time to get ready for Pilates. I will leave you with the song of the day and the rest of the lemon tea...!
(this song has been playing over and over on the radio at work and today I just could not take it out of my head!)

Lemon tea

Found this pretty idea online today, and decided to make my own. It worked perfectly!

Up and up

Look at the adorable hot air balloon I came across yesterday while google-ing. (here)

It's a 'real life' version of the fantastic flying house in the movie Up and it was used it for the promotion of the movie.

I find it so really adorable... and would just love to see it in real life!

Here is a peak at how it looks from close up:

The hot air balloon reminded me of this video, which I loved a few years ago:

And this video, in turn, made me remember this Sony commercial - so pretty!

(This version doesn't have the original soundtrack, but it was the one with the best quality on YouTube)

I need to research a 'making of' for this commercial - I wonder if they really dropped thousands and thousands of balls down the streets of San Francisco!

Happy birthday Mathieu!

Dear Mathieu,
Although I told you on skype this morning that you would have to wait until the end of June for your present to get to you, you won't have to wait that long anymore.
There is a little parcel on the way - it just had to get to you before then!
Love,
Ta grande soeur.

Congratulations, Teresa!

Today my friend Teresa got her PhD in neuroscience - I'm so proud of her!

The photos here above are some of the many we took to make the cover of her thesis book, and then of the garlands I made her with all the blue dots.

P.S. Back for more Dublin posting tomorrow!
