our wedding | getting ready

One of the reasons we fell in love with Western Australia is the amazing sunsets that one can marvel at daily. Or almost as we found out on our wedding day. :-)
But let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we?

The night before our wedding, when we were preparing the art gallery for the ceremony and the reception afterwards, we all took a short break to go and admire the sky slowly changing into beautiful shades of orange and pink...

I had just assumed we'd experience something exactly like that the next evening, with all our guests... but the weather had something different in store for us!
We did get to watch many sunsets during the rest of our time there though, so it's all ok.

Now, on to the actual wedding day!
Here are a few snapshots of us getting ready...

For sale: set of 3 hand-printed onesies

Hello everyone!

I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday. Here a few rays of sun have appeared after a morning of crazy rain... everything is still really wet but it's good to see some light again!

Today I've decided to try something new; I'm quite curious to see what will come out of it!
:-)

From now on, and from time to time, I will offer one-off items for sale on this blog. The idea is to send some of the things I make
off to greener pastures. I love creating stuff but cannot possibly keep them all for myself!

Here's the first item I am putting up for sale. It's actually a set of three. Three adorable hand-printed little onesies which you might remember from this guest post.

Fancy buying them?

I've been doing more bleach printing. Some motifs were more successful than others.
This one is one of my favourites, especially when it moves in the breeze...

Neon pink pompons for Matilda

My favourite little Matilda turned four yesterday, and I made her a present in her favourite colour: pink. (And as I'm sure you could have guessed, I had to make it neon pink because, well... as we have already assessed the other day, I'm completely obsessed!).
I bought a cute little belt which I coupled with a simple white t-shirt and a matching pompon broach and hairclip that I made for her. The pompons are so easy (and fun) to make! I've been using this technique ever since i saw it on Creature Comforts; it works perfectly.

P.S. Just in case you didn't believe my obsession with neon, go check out my toe nails,
candles, striped top, necklace, garland, and tea towel. Aarg!

Bright triangles

Hi again everyone!

It's been a little quiet over here lately; sorry... I've kind of been feeling like there are never enough hours in a day (I'm sure you all know exactly what I mean) and so I haven't been at the computer half as much as I usually am.
But it's been good busy though, don't get me wrong! We've been on a lovely long weekend in London last week, and I have lots of photos to show you.

But before I do so, I wanted to send you over to this guest post, which I wrote for Fellow Fellow a little while ago. It was so much fun putting it together; these bright triangles really do put me in a happy mood.

And during the weekend we happened upon a DavidDavid boutique. It was my first encounter with this London-based fashion designer, and I was in complete awe. As you can see, it fits with the theme perfectly!

Neon stripes and neon jewelry

I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with neon colours lately, and last weekend I decided to turn one of my plain white tops into a bright nautical shirt, and while I was at it, I also made a necklace and a pair of earrings in matching tones.

Here's how I did it.
I used:

Neon nautical top:

1. Apply masking tape onto the front of the shirt leaving regular stripes of fabric showing in between (see jumpsuit 3 - sailor stripes in the tutorial I posted over at Fellow Fellow recently) for an example.
2. Make sure everything which shouldn't get sprayed (i.e. the sleeves, the table, the walls, etc.) is well protected with your protective plastic.
3. Spray shirt thoroughly with neon spray paint.
4. Let dry.
5. Repeat all steps on the back of the shirt.
6. Let dry.
7. Remove strips of masking tape, and admire you work.

Neon necklace and earrings

1. Spray a few of your wooden beads (I sprayed 7; five for the necklace, and two for the earrings).
2. Let dry.
3. Thread all your beads on your chain.
4. Voila! The necklace is ready!
5. Cut nails with cutting pliers so that they don't stick out of the bead.
6. Glue nails into beads.
7. Let dry.
8. Glue earrings studs at the back of beads.
9. Let dry.
10. Enjoy your new outfit!

Cold weather

I quite like my cold-weather clothes and so I don't mind the temperatures we have currently over here in the Netherlands (it really hasn't rained much this fall, so it's been surprisingly bearable), but when seeing this photo just then, I really wished it was nice and warm for a little while.

Usually autumn and winter are ok, because we know we'll be flying to the southern hemisphere early in the new year, and we just hang on until then to see the sun... but this year we'll have to deal with the dreary weather all the way through as we are staying on the cold side of the planet for the whole season. Better get used to it and embrace the ugg boots and scarves then!

P.S. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving over here, but today I am especially aware of how wonderfully lucky I am. I definitely tend to take things for granted a little too much, and it's nice to stop and think about it all from time to time.

Cloudy goodness

My friend had her birthday a few weeks ago, and I printed her this cloudy top.
Happy birthday Morgane!

And one for me too

I liked the mini version that I made for Rosalie so much that I decided I had to have one too.

Balloon love

I think I might have the 'balloon love' gene.

A few months ago I fell in love with this one.
And today, when I saw these pictures here, my heart skipped a beat - I'm in love!!

Of course, the balloon is just the start. The styling and photos are just breathtaking too!

Gumboots

I just couldn't resist a pair of these colourful gumboots for autumn... lucky there weren't' that many choices in my size anymore, otherwise I think I would never have managed to settle for one single pair - they are all so delicious! (I went for celadon).

Wow, how amazing is this list of colour names!?

Photos from here.

Catwalk night

I took part in a fun fashion show evening at my old work the other day. Almost all of us who walked down the catwalk had never done anything like it before, but we had an absolute blast!

Fashionclash

Here are my favourite outfits from Sunday's fashionclash event. Now, the pictures below are definitely not representative of what we saw during the whole day. There were frills, there were scary masks, crazy fabrics and incredible constructions and colours. But somehow these interesting, challenging and most probably very fashion-forward outfits didn't make into my list of favourites... I guess I'm a bit too conservative... or just too practical. I think I liked the ones you will see below because I could see myself wearing them in real life... (and also because some of the models were hot! hehehe...).

All photos come from the fashionclash website, and were taken during shows 4 and 5 by Team Peter Stigter.

My kangaroo

I brought back a yellow kangaroo to keep me warm, all the way from Australia. I know it's pretty touristy and a bit tacky (especially because it's a Ken Done) but... I love it!
