Don't you love finding cute faces in unexpected places?
I spotted this adorable little one back when we were putting this lamp together.

Plants, sand and sea

The sky on our last day in Puglia was slightly overcast, but it was still deliciously warm. We headed back to the beach at Torre Guaceto, which was much quieter than on our first visit. The fact that it was Monday morning probably explains why the amount of locals sunbathing and swimming around was drastically lower than on the weekend.

I got out of the car to take a few photos of the vegetation... I absolutely love those prickly pears and cacti. I think it's because they belong to warm climes. And I like warm climes. Very, very much so. :-)

I couldn't end this series on our wonderful time in Puglia without telling you about Perla di Puglia. After all, this is the number one reason why we decided to go to this corner of the world for a long weekend.
This beautiful and brand new bed & breakfast (with fantastic modern rooms, a big crystal clear swimming pool and incredible breakfasts) is ran by my dear friend Laura and her husband Melvin. They are about to round off their first season (which was so successful they hardly could believe it!) and are already taking their first bookings for next year. I strongly recommend you to have a look at the photos of their beautiful property here. I dare you to resist snatching a room for a long weekend or a sunny week next summer!

And just to taunt you a little more: Brindisi airport is just a 20-minutes drive away and has cheap flights to pretty much anywhere in Europe. There you go. :-)

P.S. It's Joanna's birthday today - happy birthday beautiful!!
I'll show you what I made for her once my little present reaches her in Poland.

0 to 100

All photos are screenshots from the 0 to 100 app on the iPad.

To my absolute delight, I discovered this app today. It contains 101 breathtakingly beautiful portrait photos of people of all ages between 0 and 100. Each single shot is more amazing than the next. So clear, so real, so beautiful...

Not only does the app allow you to see the truly exquisite portraits photographer Sandy Nicholson took of people in Australia and Canada, it also gives you the chance to read a quote from every single one of them, and to watch short videos from some of the participants. And there's even an amusing 'mix-and-match' section where you can create new faces by mixing existing ones.
If you don't have the chance to have an iPad yourself, you can see all the photos here, or buy the book!

This is definitely one of the best surprises I've had with apps on the iPad so far. And did I mention it's free? Aah... life is good...

Colossal stuff

I think I might have stayed stuck on this blog for almost two hours the other day. I couldn't believe how many incredible artists, videos, installations and works of art are featured on there... it's a real treasure chest!

To give you an idea, here are the three things I remember right now:

There is SO much more though... I'd definitely recommend you go and have a look for yourself!

Friends for the antelope

Photos from here.

I wouldn't mind adding these two to our 'collection' (I know, one piece is not a collection yet, but it would be if these two came along...).

Here is their official website. Such a great project, and such pretty animals!

My 'I like' book

Almost 10 year ago I started a 'I like' book. Whenever I think of something special I like, I write it in there.

I'll share a few pages with you: (it's all in French, but I'll translate!)

(1) I like to give presents.
(2) I like to spot my birth date in an unexpected place.
(3) I like when the weather is good.
(4) I like to nap.
(5) I like to hear birds singing.
(6) I like getting my hair washed at the hairdresser's.

Talking about cool watches, I definitely wouldn't mind one of these colourful beauties either...!

Or one of these... much cheaper and just as beautiful.

Little creatures in the park

It's Koninginnedag, the Queen's birthday, today.
On this special day, throughout the Netherlands, people wear orange and gather in parks to listen to music, eat and drink, but most of all, to sell and buy knick-knacks and antiques.

We went for a long stroll in the city, and here are a few of the little creatures we met on our way.

Also, I was fascinated by this box:
I would have loved to buy them all to make something like this (we had seen one of them in Italy if I'm not mistaken - it was fantastico!).
